Whatcha got going on this Saturday? I’m hoping not much, because this weekend is positively brimming with Oregon History. We have TWO great events happening on July 27th!
First, at 4:00pm, The Resident Historian, Doug Kenck-Crispin will lead his applauded walking tour “Seedy, Seamy, Sinful Portland,” operated with our friends at Know Your City! Exploring sin seeped locations in Old Town and the area, this fun tour discusses what we call “Portland’s Naughty Bits,” and is not to be missed. Check out the video below from one of the past tours. Tickets are only $18 and can be purchased here. [If available, tickets can be purchased at the time of the tour, which starts at Voodoo Doughnut at 4:00pm, but advance ticketing is preferred.]
THEN, at 10:00pm, come on down to The Bagdad Theater for our production at ReelTime LIVE! The film for the evening will be The Big Lebowski, which with all those curse words, is a house favorite of Kick Ass Oregon History. But it’s not just the movie! Tony Altimirano will host the evening, Jeff Jaeckle will discuss the film, Halfwit Adlib will opening the event with live music, and The Resident Historian will present another installment of This Month in Oregon History. His topic? “The Chinaman IS The Issue Here, Dude – Mass Media Portrayal of Chinese Workers in Historic Portland.” The ticket is only $5 at the door, or you can buy advanced purchase tickets right here.
Finally – don’t forget to get a ticket for our Historic Portland Strip Club Bus Tour, on August 8th. Buy a ticket for only $35 – WITH complimentary malted beverages! Be sure to join us on The Cascadia Cruiser as we check out these historic sites and discuss why Oregon’s strip clubs are the bastions of free speech in The Beaver State.
If you don’t catch some Oregon History this weekend – you’re just not trying!
