A Curious Carved Stone Head… “Bigfoots in Oregon” podcast – Part 2

By oregonhistorian · On June 14, 2012

This is the carved stone head we will be talking about on “Bigfoots in Oregon” Part 2. It was carved before the 1800s by Native Americans on the Columbia River, somewhere around The Dalles.

It is from the collection of the Maryhill Museum of Art. The head is in the permanent  collection, but not always on display. orhistory.com’s Investigative Team Sasquatch was quite lucky to be able to view it, and we want to thank the staff of the fine, fine museum there.

THIS specific photo of the image is from: Roderick Sprague, “Carved Stone Heads of the Columbia River,” from Marjorie M. Halpin & Michael M. Ames (Eds.), Manlike Monsters on Trial; Early Records and Modern Evidence, (Univ. of BC Press, Vancouver, 1980) pp. 228-234

Be SURE to check out the podcast tomorrow where we talk about this stone head and the implications that can be derived from this curious artifact…

And of course, come see us LIVE at The Jack London Bar on June 19th at 7:30pm, where we are going to get to the bottom of this Bigfoot Business…
