Portland Sinful Walking Tour: Shanghaiers, Saloons & Skullduggery
It’s our (almost) annual Christmas walking tour! Join us on Christmas Day as we walk around Old Town, and talk all about the Sinful past of P-Town, or as we call it – “Portland’s Naughty Bits!!” With crappy Dollar Store candy canes! All for just $18!! Details and ticketing right HERE. We will end the tour at Mary’s Club at around 4:30pm, but if you care to join us, we are going to keep celebrating for a bit more! It’s not really a part of the tour, but some extra historical fun, I guess. Mary’s is open 365 days a year, so if you might like to accompany us to Mary’s after the tour – please do so.* Doesn’t that sound like a fun way to spend Christmas?? Hope you’ll join us! *Mary’s has a one drink minimum. Tipping dancers is polite. Food or beverages are not covered in the tour cost. Be responsible. If you are drinking, take a cab, Uber, TriMet or walk after the tour. Battleship Oregon at the Labor Temple Bar, Astoria
Resident Historian Doug Kenck-Crispin will be presenting at the Labor Temple Bar about the battleship USS Oregon on May 5th, 2018 at 7:00pm. The event is FREE!. 120 years ago this May, this ship became famous for its unprecedented 15,737 mi. cruise from San Francisco, through the Strait of Magellan at the bottom of South America, and then up to the coast of Florida in just 66 days. The Oregon then fought in the Spanish-American War in Cuba and earned the title "Bulldog of the Navy." In the 1920s, Oregon schoolchildren pitched in dimes to purchase the Oregon for a museum of the aged conflict. But with the arrival of World War Two, the battleship was sold for scrap metal, and was nearly drafted as a South Pacific garbage scow. Come hear the story of this amazing ship which has always been associated with the pride of the Beaver State! Lots of illustrative photos of the ship to see and even a film clip from 1898. ANNNDDD... if you'll be in town the morning of Sunday May 6th, you should join us on our Hungover History of Astoria Trolley Tour at 11:00am. With a complimentary Bloody Mary! Details on that trolley tour…
