Historic Portland Rock and Roll Walking Tour

September 9, 2018 @ 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

  • « “Eat the Pigs”- Political Graffiti in Portland Protests
  • Sometimes a Great Notion at the Hollywood Theater »

Before becoming the cradle of indie music, Portland housed an active grunge and punk scene. Before that, The Kingsmen and Paul Revere & the Raiders put Portland on the rock and roll map – and, before them, jazz music filled the streets of Old Town. See the places where these musicians walked and rocked for yourself and learn about these specific locations’ contributions to our collective heritage and history.

Join Doug Kenck-Crispin of Kick Ass Oregon History for a walking tour of hot spots in rock and roll history around West Burnside Street. The tour will be approximately one mile, and stops will include The Armory, the studio where “Louie Louie” was recorded, the Crystal Ballroom, Satyricon, the Starry Night, the X-Ray Cafe, and a brief pause (outside of) Mary’s.

Oh- and it is FREE! More details HERE.
