Some Kick Ass Fall Walking Tours

By oregonhistorian · On August 19, 2018

It is the Fall Walking Tour season, and we know you love to walk around Portland and hear cool stories from the past. We are here for you!

First up is a fun, FREE tour we are offering on September 9th, in conjunction with the Oregon Historical Society. Join Resident Historian, Doug Kenck-Crispin for the Historic Portland Rock & Roll Walking Tour. Tour the hot spots in Portland rock and roll history around West Burnside Street. The tour will be approximately one mile, and stops will include The Armory, the studio where “Louie Louie” was recorded, the Crystal Ballroom, Satyricon, the Starry Night, the X-Ray Cafe, and a brief pause (outside of) Mary’s. Details on the tour HERE.

We also have our monthly offering available for you. Join DKC on his “Portland Sinful Walking Tour: Shanghaiers, Saloons & Skullduggery.” The tour walks around Old Town and the Resident Historian tells the true (and not so true) tales of Portland’s naughty past. We have a tour on September 29th, the Halloween Edition on October 27th, and the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 24th. Bring your visiting friends or family along so they can learn a little something about the town you live in. Ticketing in the links, and it’s just $18!  Hope you’ll join us!

In early October, we will offer two FREE Walking Tours visiting some of the original filming locations from Gus Van Sant’s “Drugstore Cowboy.” The tours will be on October 6th and 7th, and will be in conjunction with Oregon Film’s OregonMade film series, which will be projecting a 35mm version of the film at the Hollywood Theater on October 8th.

AND…. we can do Private Walking and/or Bus Tours if you are so inclined – for as few as groups of 7! We have several different topics to offer you. If you prefer the private motor coach thing, we also offer Bus Tours of Historic Portland Strip Clubs, 420 History of Marijuana in Oregon, or a Lost Treasures of Portland Tour! Perfect for a office holiday party or hosting a big group from out of town! Just shoot us an email at oregonhistorian[at]gmail[dot]com.
