Slooooooooowwww Ride! Take it Eaaaassssyyyyy!
Springtime is just around the corner! And what a LOVELY time to enjoy a little Oregon History – outdoors! The rain is still falling, but the sun is peeking out. Birdies chirping and shit.
And did you know that weed is legal in Oregon?? That’s right! So it’s time for the 420 Bus Tour! Now there are a TON of Cali carpet baggers and charlatans claiming that they are “The Original 420/Weed/Bus Tour!!,” but you and I both know that ORHistory.com Tours was indeed the “Original” – we’ve been running 420 Bus Tours since that shit was illegal (here is a review of that Weed Bus Tour from April of 2013!).
This April 20th, we will be running TWO 420 Bus Tours with our dear friends at the Cascadia Cruiser. You can get tickets at THIS LINK!
We’re very excited to announce that Innovative Housing is down with us continuing to give tours of the Erickson Building! This was the location of August Erickson’s fabled 684 foot bar, which has now been remodeled into affordable housing units. Resident Historian Doug Kenck-Crispin worked on the public art project inside the building, and he will be leading the tour – telling you about the history of the storied establishment, and how the art tells that story, but also the mythology of the most famous bar in the world. Oh – and you’ll get to see the piss trough too! (but you can’t pee in it…) The Erickson’s Saloon Walking Tour is only $12.50! The tour will be limited to just 15 attendees. The date is February 13th, at 2pm. We will meet at the parking lot just north of Oregon Leather at NW 2nd and Davis (the SW corner of the intersection).
And of course, we will be running our monthly Portland Sinful Walking Tour: Shanghaiers, Saloons & Skullduggery (hosted by our friends at PDX Pipeline). This is a classic walking tour where we head around Old Town, talking about the true , and less than true tales of the Rose City’s Past. “Portland’s Naughty Bits,” as we like to call it! Tickets are just $15, and we have tours on Valentine’s Day (AKA Oregon’s Birthday!!), and The Saturday after St. Patrick’s Day (3/19). Details in the links.
If you don’t catch a little Oregon History this Spring… well, I just don’t think you’re trying very hard!
