December 9, 2012 in Kick Ass Oregon History Podcast, Welcome Page Slideshow

Featuring an interview with Paul Linman. Cause it’s our Kick Ass Oregon History Christmas Special!!!

Mr. Linnman has, of course, LITERALLY writen the book on the subject – and it’s a great volume. You should buy The Exploding Whale right here.

And here is a youtube clip of Mr. Linnman’s segment. As he states in our interview – you’ve seen it a TON, and he has never received any compensation for it – so do him a favor for years of enjoyment, and buy his damn book!

And here is a poem by some Welsh fellow that kinda bastardized the Oregon version (IMHO)

Win FREE SHIT!! Find out how YOU can win one of these AWESOME Oregon Christmas Ornaments!!!

Kick Ass Oregon History is proud to present TWO Holiday themed shows this year, and in the “spirit of the season” (gag), the themes are HANGINGS and puking out your teeth and guts from RADIATION SICKNESS!! Yay!!! No – but really, in the OTHER “spirit of the season,” we’ll be giving away cool FREE  SHIT at each of these events – find out WHAT below!

The holiday season begins for us on Thursday December 20th at 7:30pm at the Jack London Bar, Kick Ass Oregon History is proud to present The Hanging of Danford Balch – a Gift to Portland! Our Ghost Host, Andy Lindberg will be in attendance. Hear Doug Kenck-Crispin chat about the tragic tale of the first man hanged (the first hung man?) in Oregon, and why his murderous act could have resulted in the greatest gift to Portlanders. It happens to be one of our FAVORITE Oregon Tales, and we are hoping you can join us! And the show is FREE!!

Then on Saturday December 22nd at 7:00pm – It’s a Nuclear Christmas at The Mission Theater!!  We will view the film “A Day Called ‘X’” (about 1950′s Portland getting nuked!) and Stanley Kubrick’s Classic “Dr. Strangelove” while the Resident Historian discusses Civil Defense in Oregon. $6 advance (follow the link right here) or $8 at the door.

At each show, we will be raffling TWO of the awesome Oregon Christmas Ornaments to lucky attendees. They are hand made from fused glass by Becca at Wells Glass Studio on Alberta Street. We will also have some for sale for $8 each at the shows – for all you unlucky bastards who didn’t win one. In addition, we will raffle off a ticket to our Treasure & Loot Double Decker Bus Tour, so someone is bound to win something. Come to the shows!!!

Finally, you’ll wan to catch (ha! I crack myself up!) our Christmas Special podcast – “A Child’s Christmas in (Exploding) Whales.” It’s the Mash-Up of the Century (well, at least of the last week) when we take this and drop in this, and blow ‘em all up on a Florence Beach! That episode drops on December 9th, and you can get it right here.

Merry Christmas, Dear Ass Kickers! And Happy Hanukkah too, Baby!!!

And finally… who remembers the Christmases at Meier& Frank?
