I rented another goddamn bus. One with Stripper Poles in it…
And I’ve been hard at work, researching and shit…
What is the cost? $35. That covers the cost of the bus, the Kick Ass Historical presentations, and some pretzel sticks. Oh yes, and some beverage on the bus as well. Oh, and the Burnside Bourbon (if you’re good). You will be responsible for purchasing your own beverages at the bars we stop at.
If that sounds like your idea of a fun and informative way to spend a Wednesday night, click on the “Buy Now” button right down yonder….
THE FINE PRINT! No Cancellations!!! All sales are final. This is a limited number event, so if you buy a seat and cancel, some other Ass-Kicker won’t be able to come. Your sale is final!
YOU MUST BE 21! Bring an Oregon or other US STATE ID, or your Passport.
DO NOT DRIVE HOME! Take the bus, MAX, streetcar or a Radio cab. Have a sober friend drive you home. Do not drive!
If YOU make a mess on the bus, and we incur additional cleaning fees, YOU will be charged that full amount. By your purchase, you agree to this shit…
YOU MUST HAVE FUN! (ok – you don’t HAVE to have fun… but you should!)
10/26/12 Event – McMenamin’s Mission Theater – Strip City’s Storied Sex Worker Specters AND Midnight Cowboy!
AKA – Portland’s Dead Whores…
Kick Ass Oregon History is proud to team up with McMenamin’s Mission Theater to present a night of ghostly tales – about sex workers from Strip City. Some are ghosts, yes, but some are just whores or yore – famous sex workeres from our city’s past who deserve a little retelling. We will feature a podcast on the subject here, but the REAL celebration of these bawdy beauties will be on the Friday before Halloween!
On Friday, October 26th, 2012, the doors will open at 8:00 pm, with the presentation by The Ribald Historian, Doug Kenck-Crispin, beginning at 9:00 pm.
We will talk about these ladies that have graced Portland’s past, and examine a few establishments haunted by their specters. We will discuss why sex workers are particularly vulnerable, and disappointingly, seemingly expendable.
We will also feature a costume contest, and we encourage you to dress like a Pimp or Whore, from ANY era. The grand prize will be a gift certificate for a night at The White Eagle, one of Portland’s MOST Haunted Whorehouses (of yore, I’m sure…). Runners up will receive some other awesome prizes too.
At 10:15 pm, we will enjoy a 35mm print of Midnight Cowboy, a classic of the prostitute genre! A FILM viewing of this feature is a rare occurrence, so the price of the ticket is worth this exhibition ALONE!
Oh, speaking of price – how much does this awesome evening cost? Well I’m glad you asked, dear Ass Kicker! Advance tickets can be purchased here for $6, or the production is $8 at the door. ALL is included in that ticket price – the historical presentations AND the film. So be sure to get a ticket soon – they are bound to sell out, and you don’t want to be stuck on the sidewalk in your tight and tiny ass mini skirt – cause it’s cold outside (oldest line in the book…).
So get a ticket, get your early Halloween on, and come join us for an evening of ghost stories of some of the hardest working ladies in Portland’s Past.
The Mission Theater is located at 1624 NW Glisan in Portland-fuckin-Oregon.
